God’s Wisdom Can Be Seen in His Creation
July 19th, 2006 | Michael Pink
We’ve begun to consider What the 7 Days of Creation Teach us about Business and to lay a foundation for this study. Consider this: “For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and deity.” (Rom 1:20)
Do you get that? Paul says that we can learn a lot about God, His nature and His power by simply studying the things He made. If you want to learn about a carpenter, look at some of the cabinets or furniture he has made and you will learn much about his capability, character, commitment to quality, etc. The same is true with God… Look at His heavens and you will see His glory; examine the firmament and you will see His handiwork (Psalm 19:1)
Even Solomon, the wisest man who ever lived, studied creation because he knew that God’s wisdom, in part, was embedded in the things He made. We read about Solomon in 1 Kings 4, “And he spoke of trees, from the cedar tree that is in Lebanon even unto the hyssop that springs out of the wall: he spoke also of beasts, and of fowl, and of creeping things, and of fishes. And there came of all people to hear the wisdom of Solomon, from all kings of the earth, who had heard of his wisdom.”
Notice how Solomon spoke about the created order? Who can forget, “Remember the ant, thou sluggard?” I guarantee you that the kings of the earth didn’t travel to see Solomon so they could learn how to prune trees or pick up hunting skills! He gained invaluable, practical wisdom from observing nature. People like the Queen of Sheba gave great sums of gold as voluntary payment for his wisdom. In one year, he received over $800 million in voluntary consulting revenues!
If you’re ready to delve into Genesis with me, join me tomorrow as I share what I have learned about business from day one of the creation story.

Hi Patricia,
Congratulations on being our very first post to the blog. It had only been up a short time when your comments appeared. We do appreciate your writing to us and do hope you will not only post comments but also any questions you may have or may wish to have others offer feedback on. We still have a few kinks to work out on our bookstore and then we will tell subscribers about the new site, new blog and new store.
If you haven’t already done so, feel free to download the free MP3 mentioned on the home page. It’s a great introduction to the whole concept of Biblical sales.
Wishing you the very best in your new sales career! God Bless you!

I have just started reading your book Selling Among Wolves and as I read it and soak in that wisdom I look forward to this series of information. I turned my company over to the Lord 3 1/2 years ago and it has been some ride ever since. I manage 45 sales people and we are on a journey that, right now, has me exhausted. My mind is overwhelmed as i do my best to be God’s steward of this business. I pray this series will help me put things in order and find some rest along the way. God bless you for accepting the plan God has for your life as you are certainly helping others know Him better.

Carla;
You have made a wise decision to turn your company over to the Lord and I quite understand it being a “ride”! You mentioned that you are exhausted right now from all the responsibility. I understand this.
Perhaps one of the best lessons I learned in that regard had to do with learning how to enter His rest as spoken of in Hebrews 4.
You see, in the Tabernacle of Moses spoken of in great detail in the Old Testament, there was an outer court illuminated by natural daylight, an inner court illuminated by a golden, oil burning light and the Holy of Holies, illuminated by God’s presence.
Those three places speak of three levels in our walk with God which can entirely be applied to business. Level 1 is the outer court and it’s where we rely in our natural skills and we compete with others on that level. In a manner of speaking, it is where we can get the 30 fold return.
Level 2 is where we rely on the leading of the Holy Spirit and the wisdom of Scripture to leverage our natural skills. In a manner of speaking, this is where we get the 60 fold return.
Level 3 has very little to do with us and very, very much to do with God. It is the place of amazing things that God will do in that place. I have too many experiences to share about this in this format, but if you are interested in this, you can study that in detail from 2 different CD series in our bookstore. One is called “Three Levels of Sales Acceleration” and the other is called, “The Rain Catcher’s Secret - 7 Ancient Paths to Wealth, Wisdom and the Wonder of God”. When you go to the store, select the third option at the top right… All Business & Sales Training Titles
Hope that helps Carla!

I had the pleasure of listening to you in a training session at our company last December and these daily emails are great nuggets of understanding and inspiration; I plan to share these with my 16 year old son as he has begun part time work-God bless you and your work!

What does it mean “be wise as a serpent, and gentle as a dove”, in practical, every day business?

Mike
Thank you so much for the guidance and concern. From the “human” standpoint it can get pretty lonely at the leadership level. I feel I must show a certain amount of strength and confidence at all times - and sometimes I am just downright faking it. I do find strength when I turn to God and spend time with Him. I just get caught up in the demands of those around me and, in all honesty, don’t always make that time to be in His presence. I will get the material you suggested and believe it will help me get what I need to give what they need.
God Bless

Michael,
Congratulations on the new look and additional features. I enjoy starting my day with your insight.

Carla,
It is always our approach to see where God is working and join Him there. I see that God has called you to leadership in your organization, and that He is grooming you now more than ever before. Praise the Lord that you have turned your business over to Him! The fact that you are tired and weary at times shows the realistic side to growing a business God’s way. The spiritual warfare that exists is real. You should not fight this battle alone in your flesh. I encourage you to surrender your successes and your challenges to the Lord and co-labor with Him. As we have talked and taught for years, there are ways that life can be restored when we find the ways of God in growing our businesses. Bless you! Bless you!

Carla,
An additional thought… as hard as it is to do and as easy as it is for me to say… embrace this time as if God has you in His training program. He is grooming you and strengthening you. He has promoted you, and now He is growing you. Don’t feel like you must train alone. Get a “workout partner” that can exercise with you. There is plenty of help available. Many Blessings!

Hi Leonard;
That’s a great question. And what I am very pleased about is that you are asking that question! You see, too often we read the Scripture, find it interesting or helpful or convicting or whatever, but rarely do we stop and ask, “How does this apply to my life?”
The Greek word that is here translated “wise” refers to practical wisdom, prudence, cleverness, and discernment. A person who is “wise,” in this semse is a person who shows presence of mind and has the understanding and sound judgment necessary to act cautiously, sensibly, even discreetly with foresight. In one sense, it is the ability to navigate around trouble where possible. It’s the idea of not looking for a fight with the wolves but not being fearful either.
The word for “harmless”, literally means “unmixed”. It’s the idea of purity as in pure gold. To be unmixed in a practical sense refers to moral purity and integrity. When we lack these, our witness is neutralized and our authority is comprimised, leaving us to fight the wolves in our own strength and I have never seen a sheep tear up a wolf yet!
To sum it up, walk cautiously with prudence and foresight, in integrity and moral purity and the wolves will not be able to gainsay you.
Hope that helps!

Howdy Michael,
I’m still reading. This current topic is dead on for where we are here in our office. We’re flat out of control!! We’ve got to set up some new effective systems.
Thanks for your insight.
