Rest To Find Vision
July 28th, 2006 | Michael Pink
When I speak about vision for business, I am speaking about getting a panoramic 360 degree, three dimensional view of your best understanding of what God desires for the business you are running for Him. That comes from spending time, waiting on Him and entering a place of emotional and intellectual rest with Him.
After Jesus was crucified, buried and resurrected, He walked along the shore of Galilee and found some of His disciples fishing. It was amazingly big news that Jesus had been resurrected and now He comes to once again reveal Himself to the disciples. But before He does, He starts a fire, gets some fish and takes the time to fix them breakfast. Can you imagine jus how at rest He was “in the moment”?
Jesus then calls to the disciples, invites them to cease from their labor and join Him in His place of rest. Upon accepting His invitation, they join Him in that place of rest whereupon Jesus imparts vision to Peter. Jesus paints a word picture and commissions Peter to feed His sheep. This was reminiscent of the first time Jesus imparted vision to him when Jesus was starting His earthly ministry and called Peter to leave his nets to become a fisher of men.
In both cases, Jesus called His disciples aside from the busyness of their business to enter into a place of rest where they could receive the vision God had for them. If you need clarity of vision for your life, accept His standing invitation to come aside from your work, spend time soaking in His Word and wait for His presence. His words of light will show you the way.

I love these e-mails. They are so helpful, but when I print your e-mails now the right margin cuts off 3 or 4 letters and even occasional words.
Also, what happened to the Genesis series you jsut started?

Hi. Unfortunately with this new format, 1/4″ to 1/2″ is cut off on the right hand side and I’m unable to read all of the script. Then I get frustrated and don’t really finish reading it. The bottom arrow just doesn’t move the page over far enough to read. Can this be fixed? Tx. SW

These emails are awesome. However, sometimes I need idease on how to implement the principles. Like today’s post, how can we do that in a practical way?

This is what I understood from reading the vision message.
1. As soon as someone sees the vision it releases faith…the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not yet seen.
2. When we are lead by the spirit (the passion to trust what He has revealed to us) we produce Life and Peace.
3. When we are lead by the fallen nature that is motivated by what is seen, it produces death to the vision that God has shown us.

I just opened and found a deeper answer for my business needs. I quietness and trust is God’s strength. I need to rest and was fighting it. Today’s confirmation is putting me at peace to know that the Father has a plan for my business if I stay close to Him.
Thank you for your persevering for us saints.

Thank you for this email. As business owners, we are faced with many issues on a daily basis and it is sometimes difficult to simply rest……thank you for this reminder that we need to allow ourselves to rest in the Lord and be renewed so that we can effectively manage what He has blessed us with.

These emails are inspirational. Being self-employed I have found them extremely beneficial. Many times I feel the need to express my faith more than my business which sometime we need to balance out faith with what we are doing. Stopping to Rest helps one focus on what God whats one to do and dwellon what he wants us to do. I know, he brought me out of a business where I was not using my Gifts, to a business that I can utilize what He has bistowed on me. That is helping others. My business moto is “Serving Him by helping others.”

I would like to say that this particular e-mail speaks to me. So many times, I try to figure out what way God wants me to take, and so many times, I just don’t know, even when I walk away from a decision for a few days to pray about it, but sometimes I still don’t seem to know the answer, so I generally proceed, unless I hit a road block. I’m a firm believer that God sends roadbloacks when you’re going down the wrong path. But, I always wonder, when I don’t seem to get an answer, even after I wait and pray, and for an example I need to make an advertising decision or whatever, and I still don’t seem to get a clear answer –should I move forward or not.
Thanks for your e-mails. I’m saving this one.

Karen;
Your question is a common one that we all struggle with from time to time. I consider my business or job to be my training ground and many times God is training us by not providing the answer so we can mature by stretching ourselves. See your job as the place where He is bringing us to maturity, where He is training us to rule and reign with Him, where we will get the skills after having been faithful to rule over cities as Jesus cited. I will share more of this in a daily email this week Karen. Thanks for posting!
