Who Did Jesus Recruit for His Sales Team?
February 6th, 2007 | Michael Pink
“Come unto me, all you that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and you shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Mt 11:28 - 30
We know salvation is an open invitation to whosoever will, but who does He choose to “take His yoke” and what does that mean anyway? In a 1st Century Hebrew context, a rabbi would study the Scriptures and get his own twist on them, his own set of interpretations and that set of interpretations, that way of seeing Scripture was called that rabbi’s “yoke”. The most promising Jewish young men who had memorized the entire Old Testament would apply to take a particular rabbi’s yoke upon them. The qualifications to be accepted to spread that rabbi’s yoke were very high and few would be accepted.
Then came Jesus. And He gave an invitation to take His yoke, to spread His understanding of Scripture and He did have three qualifications if you wanted to apply. The first qualification was “labor”. Jesus was recruiting people who were willing to work, who understood responsibility and stepped up to the plate. If they weren’t willing to be responsible citizens and be gainfully employed, they weren’t going to be very responsible with his “yoke”. If you are recruiting a sales team, look for someone who isn’t afraid to work.
I am looking for a group of people I can invest the treasure God has poured into me and plant it deep within them. I am about my Father’s business and part of that includes finding people who know how to apply themselves and want to do even better. I am asking the Father to show me the best model to bring about transformation in those who are interested in becoming part of what some people would call a “mastermind” group. Details will emerge soon and I am open to suggestions. Stay tuned for the next message as we discuss the 2nd requirement Jesus had to spread His yoke and change the world!

This reminded me of a clip they showed at Promise Keepers this summer. These men chosen to carry their Rabbi’s yoke would follow them everywhere, in their footsteps as they walked the dusty roads of Judea. so consequently, a blessing for this type of young man became, “May you be covered by the dust of your Rabbi.” I pray that each of us are following Him so closely that we are in His footsteps and covered with His dust.
I pray Blessings on this line of study. May we become like Him.

I am most interested in your Mastermind Group model primarily because I have been a life long advocate of Napolean Hill and his great work, Think and Grow Rich where I first learned of this concept years ago. Also, I have started a Christian executive peer group called ISI (Iron Sharpening Iron) modeled after Proverbs 27:17 where we follow much of Hill’s principles including this concept.

Work? HMMM it takes more than simply wanting to be a part of a mastermind group. This would involve adversity, and commitment. I will be in the Tampa Bay area Feb 16-21, and open for discussion. 859-992-7306 - William

You are right William. We are currently exploring formalizing a partnership with a communications partner to provide high tech virtual meetings to those involved in the group. I hope we can roll out the program by March or April at the latest. As we get closer and get a few other things prayed through, we will share more details with the group. In the meantime, all those who purchased or do purchase the 7 Wealth Secrets of the Rainforest will be invited to a complimentary teleseminar on February 27th. Details to emerge next week.
Blessings on you all!

Brother Mike, I don’t meet qualifications because I’m not a man. I listened to your sermon on sellamongwolves, and I pulled so much out about evangelism, which is what I’m called to do. God’s been leading me to look into business. He’s teaching me approaches to people. Instead of just being like, “DO YOU KNOW JESUS.” To form a relationship with people. When I was younger I went right to the point with people, and never got a single convert. In faith, in Christ People love to hear the Christ in me and people are convicted by the Christ in me. In truth, I’ve had several conversations and just love to encourage people in Christ, it stirrs me up. It’s like I sow it into them and I get the harvest in myself, but I have yet to have a convert through this. I’ve made SERVERAL people mad because I speak God’s Word boldly than what comfortable christianity likes, but no convert. I’ve known that I was called to be an evangelist since I was 12, and I did turn away from God for 4 year in between that, but His gifts and callings are without repentence and this desire burns with a stronger intensity. It’s the heart of God to see souls saved. If business is suppose to aid me somehow, so be it. I’ll not box God in. Murfreesboro, Tn is the fastest growing city in this nation, and I’m right in the middle. Please, if you can, from your own experience, give me some advice. I’ll never stop sowing the Word. Some sow, some reap, but God gives the increase. I’LL NEVER STOP SOWING HIS WORD INTO THE LIVES OF MEN.
