What Are You Wasting?

Want to emulate the ways of God? Consider Psalm 147:2-6. I want to continue with the fifth of seven characteristics of God’s ways described here as: “He determines the number of the stars”. In my previous blog on this topic, we looked at the fact that God is careful about keeping up with things that are His. He counts the stars, of which there are no less than 70,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 give or take a few.
This speaks to me of the fact that God cares about the little things. The same God that created the stars and set them in the sky was also careful to fold his burial cloth neatly after being raised from the dead. This same God with unlimited supply who creates substance from words and fed the 5,000 plus women and children from a small boy’s lunch, was also careful to organize the groups to sit in orderly sections of fifty, then gather up the fragments that there be no waste!
It blows my mind that He cared about the fragments, that there be no waste. There was no shortage. There was no supply problem. Yet He cared about the example it would set and made sure there was no waste! So my question for you today is; In what ways are you wasteful? If He cared about some bread that would soon turn moldy if not eaten, how much more does He care about you whom He purchased with His own blood? Think He might care about the return on His investment in you? Think it matters whether we are wasteful with our time and resources? Having plenty is no excuse for wastefulness just like having little is no excuse for being stingy. As I write this, I am challenged about the times I am wasteful with my time, my mind, even my thoughts. How about you?

In your last post you compared the number of stars with the number of grains of sand in the earth. You said there are 10 times as many stars as grains of sand. Wow.
It brought me back to Genesis. God spoke to Abraham twice about His covenant promise to make his seed into many nations. First He said Abe look down, “your seed will be as plentiful as the sand of the sea”. The second time He said Abe look up. “Your seed will be as the stars of the sky”
God was not saying the same thing two different ways. He was making two distinct covenants with Abraham. The sand of the sea represents His covenant with the Jews, God’s flesh and blood people. The stars of the sky represents His covenant with God’s spiritual people…His born again believers who obtained covenant rights via Galations 3.29
Have a blessed day

Really neat Characteristic of God to Emulate. I want to be more frugal and not waste what God has so generously blessed our family with. Time, family, ministry, health. Thank you

Bill;
Never saw that before… that God was saying two different things. Thanks for sharing that perspective! Blessings.

We love your teachings here in Rwanda. Can a person serve the Lord without money?
