Sons in the Marketplace – Can Talk AND Walk!

Wednesday, October 31st, 2007

“Thus says the LORD to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have held, to subdue nations before him; and I will (1) loose the armor of kings,(2) to open before him the two-leaved gates; and the gates shall not be shut; (Isaiah 45:1-2)

God promises Cyrus that He will open the gates of an otherwise impenetrable city for him. Most people would not know how to take a promise like that. They want to spiritualize it away. They want to delay it ‘til the future, preferably the after life. But Cyrus lived in the here and now and believed he was born for precisely that purpose… to subdue nations, not metaphorically, but in practical reality.

Sons in the Marketplace – Eat Like a Frog!

Monday, October 29th, 2007

“Thus says the LORD to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have held, to subdue nations before him; and I will (1) loose the armor of kings,(2) to open before him the two-leaved gates; and the gates shall not be shut; (Isaiah 45:1-2)

This verse speaks of Babylon, the strongest most fortified city in the known world at that time. There were 100 gates to the city and they were made of bronze. No point in hurling flaming arrows at that. No point in using a battering ram either. It was impenetrable. Everyone knew that, even Cyrus. But that didn’t deter him. (Note: I said the seeming impossibility of the task, DID NOT deter Cyrus).

Motivate to Intensify

Friday, October 26th, 2007

Okay my friends; this is the last of seven blog entries about how you can be ten times more productive if you will learn how to minimize the effects of pests. They are as effective as you choose to make them. To recap, here are the first six secrets… (1) Eliminate the unnecessary (2) Automate the mundane, (3) Delegate the routine (4) Designate your work (5) Procrastinate the undefined and (6) Separate to cogitate.

Sons in the Marketplace – A “Son” Sees the Shadow!

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007

“Thus says the LORD to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have held, to subdue nations before him; and I will (1) loose the armor of kings, (Isa 45:1) “Only rebel not against the LORD, neither fear you the people of the land; for they are bread for us: their defense is departed from them, and the LORD is with us: fear them not.” (Num 14:9)

God promises Cyrus that He will loose the armor of kings. It means He will enfeeble them. It was not without precedent. In Numbers 14, Joshua and Caleb having returned from spying out the Promised Land with ten other spies, tried to assure the people that although there were giants in the land, their “defense had departed from them and the Lord is with us”. It’s an unusual expression which quite literally means the shadow or “favor” of God was not with the enemy.

An Exceptional Opportunity

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2007

Dear Friends,

Every once in a long while comes an exceptional opportunity I want to pass on. Today is such a time. You’ve heard me talk about SeedAmerica but what you may not know is that they have become one of the fastest growing companies in America! They are vision driven and relentless in their pursuit of a goal to build a business college with a Kingdom agenda and a profoundly Biblical worldview. Less than a year ago when I first mentioned this opportunity, there were only a few employees. Now, they are approaching 60 team members and outperforming every expectation and goal they had.

Right now, they need proven professionals and they are paying very well.  But I am most excited about the vision and the impact they will have on our culture in the years ahead. I could go on and on about how this will shape the culture, not only in America but around the world, but instead I invite you to check it out yourself. See if this isn’t the opporutnity you’ve been waiting your whole life for. I know it was for me!

Sons in the Marketplace – Kings Begin to Tremble

Monday, October 22nd, 2007

“Thus says the LORD to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have held, to subdue nations before him; and I will (1) loose the armor of kings,(2) to open before him the two-leaved gates; and the gates shall not be shut; (3) I will go before you, and (4) make the crooked places straight: (5) I will break in pieces the gates of bronze, and (6) cut asunder the bars of iron: And (7) I will give you the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that you may know that I, the LORD, who call you by your name, am the God of Israel.” (Isa 45:1-3)

In my last blog on this series of sons in the marketplace, I asked what it will look like to see a corporate body of sons rising in the marketplace. And while that answer may well be as diverse as there are sons arising, I would like us to look at Cyrus as a possible model. Cyrus, the Persian king, was not a Hebrew. He did study Isaiah and knew the Scripture spoke of him and most agree he is a type of Christ or anyone who is anointed of God. My premise is that most of us, like Cyrus, were heathens who God sovereignly chose and anointed for His purposes.

200 Sons in the Marketplace

Friday, October 19th, 2007

I don’t know about you, but I have gotten very serious about “son training.” It’s the process of growing in Christ from little children unto sonship. That place where the Father trusts you with the keys to the car… OK, not the car, but the keys to the kingdom so to speak. One of the things that has helped thousands of business leaders mature, take on greater responsibility and handle wealth wisely has been a conference I hosted three years ago this month. Today, I am going to give every one of you an invitation to receive either the DVDs or CDs from that all day event FREE if you order the download version.

We gathered 11 of the most successful Christian business leaders to convene in Ft. Lauderdale and pass on the inheritance of their heart. It was simply riveting. I asked them to speak to us all as if we were their only heir and this was their last time to pass on business wisdom in a Biblical context. What they shared amounted to nothing less than “son training” for the marketplace. I know from some of the blog comments this week, that there are folks who don’t believe “sons” are called to the marketplace, but for the rest of us, this will put you well on the path to being a “son” in the marketplace, regardless of your gender!

People all the time ask us to give our materials away for free… Well this is as close as it gets, but it’s LIMITED TO THE FIRST 200. I suggest you check this out now and get your Free DVD or CD series while the offer stands. Don’t know if we will do this again.

Separate to Cogitate

Friday, October 19th, 2007

I have been discussing the seven strategies God built into the rainforest to deal with “pests” and how they relate so effectively to work. So far, we have discussed the following: (1) Eliminate the unnecessary (2) Automate the mundane (3) Delegate the routine (4) Designate your work and last week was number (5) Procrastinate the undefined.

Sons in the Marketplace – At What Price?

Thursday, October 18th, 2007

John tells us in 1 John 3, “Behold, what manner of love the Father has bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God:” He has called us sons, and if we are sons, Paul tells us in Romans 8, we are “heirs of God and joint-heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified with Him.” Now I love this sonship concept, this idea of being a joint-heir with Christ. It sounds powerful and the ramifications truly are life altering, even nation altering. But there’s a price…

Hebrews 12 tells us “My son, despise not the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when you are rebuked of Him: For whom the Lord loves He chastens, and scourges every son whom He receives. If you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons;” Want to know what it really means to walk as a son in this world? Submit yourself to God as your father. Learn the meaning of obedience. Without obedience to the Father we are wayward children, “walking according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now works in the children of disobedience: and are by nature the children of wrath, even as others.” (Eph 2)
