12 Biblical Laws of Wealth Creation

Like the law of gravity, The Twelve Biblical Laws of Wealth Creation just exist. They are the most universal set of directives on prosperity — trans-cultural, trans-generational, not bound by economics. Regardless of your age, environment, or financial situation, these 12 laws will stop the lack and shape your financial destiny. While I did not make up these 12 laws, I did spend a lifetime discovering them. It has been a journey of difficulty, trial, success and failure.

In “Rich Church Poor Church,” I devote a full one-third of my book to the study of these 12 laws. There isn’t space here for even an executive summary so I will share with you just one law — the most critical to your future wealth and well-being. It is the Law of the Brand. It is the foundation on which the other eleven laws are firmly established. It’s also the linchpin that holds them all together.

Businesspeople will recognize the brand as a company name or product name. Corporations spend millions of dollars defining themselves through their names, symbols and identities, then even more keeping that brand name in front of the public.

Your name is your brand and you should give priority to establishing a good name for yourself. Most people will never get to know you intimately, so your character is only known by the name and reputation that precedes you.

“A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favor rather than silver and gold.” (Proverbs 22:1 KJV)

A good name carries with it a high perceived value. If you have a reputation of honesty and integrity, you’ll find more doors opened to you, more acceptance into circles of influence and more resources given to you. If you have a reputation of getting the job done, of cutting costs or producing wealth, you are worth more in compensation to an employer or client. But it’s not just about business.

Your family relations weigh heavily on your good name. Do you keep the promises you make with your spouse and children? Or do you repeatedly miss that little league game, the piano recital or the chance to just hang out together? When our names no longer symbolize integrity and justice, businesspeople will no longer trust us with their resources and family members will no longer trust us with the secrets in their hearts.

“…[Jesus] increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.” (Luke 2:52)

Even in his youth, Jesus had a good name before many. Ultimately, the religious and political establishments would come to despise that name as many do to this day. But to the hurting, sick, and needy, His name is matchless in its ability to bring comfort and hope. What does your name say about you?

  1. Dennis Preston Says:

Just wanted to offer a comment on the universality of the laws, and specifically, those having to do with wealth. In my own heart at times I wrestle with this, and I’ve seen others also comment on this, that the church should not take direction from the secular arena in terms of how to build wealth. This also applies to the secular arena discovering other universal laws, such as self-fulfilling prophecies. I believe for myself and in part for others, our reluctance and our saying this is not right is misguided. I believe it stems from a unbelief, and/or a belief that is rooted in saying that God did not create the heavens and the earth. Really, it’s conditioning along the lines of the belief of evolution that has seeped into our thinking, and, as well I believe, a Theistic belief that God just started the world and then took His hands off it and is letting it run on its own.

I believe if we believe that God created the heavens and the earth, then He also created laws like the law of gravity, the law of aerodynamics, that man DISCOVERS, either Christian men or ungodly men. Still, they are God’s laws. To say that they are of the enemy I believe (as I have done) is to say that God is not the creator and is not involved in the affairs of men. This is directly refuted by Acts 17:26-28 (and other passages).

“From one man He made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and He determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. God did this so that men would seek Him and perhaps reach out for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us. For in Him we live and move and have our being. As some of your poets have said, ‘we are His offspring.’”

The enemy cannot create anything, he can only distort. God is the great Creator God! Halleujah! Men can pervertedly tap into these laws at differing levels. Some, who are unbelievers, still have great giftings from God - as He created them - and they can use those gifts for themselves, or for Him. They are still His gifts. Consider many musicians who have great talent and were likely to be worship leaders or songwriters who are making millions for themselves (in the secular arena) rather than leading others to know God. Again, not wrong to make millions, but who are they doing it for. And certainly God does have his people in the secular music arena today who will honor Him and still make millions and live a life that He called them to live, and certainly that is not wrong.

    Blessings!
    Dennis

    good stuff….

  3. MILDRED BERRY Says:

I TOTALY AGREE WITH DENIS. GODS LAWS AND PRECEPTS ARE FOR ANYONE WHO DARES TO USE THEM. THEY HAVE TO WORK REGARDLESS OF THE USER….SAVED OR UNSAVED.

I have been so intrigued with John Muritori’s comments that I have ordered the book “Rich Church, Poor Church”. I am looking forward to reading it.

My current church has been going through many changes in the last several years; Splits, new pastor, new sanctuary as a result of of damage in a storm, etc. Like many churches we have struggled with the finances and making ends meet. I believe that one issue has been a spirit of poverty in the church. As a population, I do not believe for one minute that GOD wants us to be destitute or poverty stricken. I believe that GOD wants us to be propserous in all ways, of which financial is only one of them. Being of good health, good cheer, and being kind to all are prosperous situations that GOD has ordained us to be. More often than not we get in the way and try to ‘make’ it happen when GOD is about to bless us.

Being a Deacon in my church I am now able to help people understand that we, as a church body, need to understand some of the basic principles of branding. We need to understand that the more people we reach will result in more people coming in the door and the more people we can reach for Christ. Developing a ‘brand’ church is not wrong. People are attracted to things that can help them reach their desires and needs. Under each of our actions is that famous radio station, WIIFM (What’s In It For Me). We all want what we want in order to meet our goals and aspirations. As people run into troubles in their lives and are forced to their knees as I was, they will hopefully develop a need for the ONE that fix everyones’ problems, Jesus Christ.

I think John Muratori has a unique grasp of biblical economics. His understanding of scripture combined with God’s ultimate purposes for our resources is astounding. Great, great teacher.

  6. Monica Says:

I personally believe that Chrisitian Business man and woman should live in the supernatural like Jesus took Peter for a walk on the sea. That is to say that christian business should prosper far above the ungodly business man and woman. I am waiting to purchase John Muratori book.

  7. Maureen Says:

Excellent comentary by all. John Muratori is a great teacher. My question to you all is, should churches be involved in any income producing ventures? Even convents and monestaries used to make products to sell to support their buildings and ministries. Instead of always counting on the congregations tithes and offerings (which I believe all should give, but reality is most do not), why can’t churches become involved in generating some of their own income?

  8. Nick Says:

I think there is biblical precedent for “tent making” as Paul did. The church is not a business and it’s primary function is the spread of the gospel and the building up of disciples. However, the wise use of resources and creativity to generate income to further the cause of Christ, in my opinion, is very biblical. People get into trouble when they aren’t careful to prayerfully watch the dividing line.

  9. Jon Says:

    Maureen,
Good question. We have to remember what the bible says about money. Money isn’t evil. The Love of money is the root of all evil. We have all seen it where money corrupts people and organizations. With that said, however, all organizations need funding to stay alive and thrive. The last statistic I heard was that 80% of the tithes come from 20% of the people. Unfortunately, that will probably always be that way. The Pareto principle states that 80/20 principle is applied in most other areas of life. Many people are along for the ride and do not contribute. That said, how do churches survive with only 20% of the people contributing?

We all used to remember bake sales and car washes and other income producing efforts used to gain funds for mission trips, etc. While these are income producing they are not considered bad because the funds are controlled and used for other ministries to touch others. We can all agree that the end result is good, therefore the method to gain the funds is okay. Why don’t church congregations feel the income producing efforts are okay then as long as the funds are used to touch others in the name of Christ?

I believe, and scripture states, that we should all use our talents and make them prosper, not bury them. God cannot steer a parked car!

  10. Brad Young Says:

I agree to a point with Dennis but… God does open doors for his children are not open for the people know have not accepted him! There is many blessings that are for the believer not are not available to the lost! For example… The guide(Holy Spirit) is not available to lead an unbeliever into all truth. The word has many promises for the children of God.

For example… 51 of the wealthiest 100 people being Jewish is not by chance! There are 400 jews to every 1 white but 51 of them wealthiest are Jewish. Anyways, u see where this is going…

The bible says… The wealth of the wicked is laid up for the rightous! That would be children of God not the lost…

  11. Brad Young Says:

Should the church be involved in money? Yes but each belongs in it’s own department. Let me explain…

The Priest- To lead and guide the body of christ to the “Vision” God has for the church!
The Kings- Are business owners that are called to provide pro”Vision” for the Vision God has shown the Priest and revealed to the Kings of the house/church.
Sheep- Bring in pro”vision” the help the church reach the vision.
Prophets- The encourage Kings & Priest and the rest of the body to the fights coming against the body of christ and war is waged spiritual in claiming the Vision!
Note: When everybody plays their part in the role above God also helps them bring their personal “vision” to pass!

  13. Jenny Kise Says:

So many christains don’t believe that wealth creation is one of the purposes of God for their lives. And live according to their mentallity. Wealth creation begins with your ability to think well. According to Dennis, God’s laws and precepts are for anyone who dare to use them. They have to work irrespective of the user. Because they are God’s words and God honors His words more than His name
