GOD is greater than anything we may fear. In each situation where fear arises, we need to choose to focus on Him with A.W.E.: His Ability, Willingness and even Eagerness to do good for us, His beloved children. If we trust in His Love for us, we need never fear. If we don't, then we need to learn to trust: to focus on His Goodness and His Love for us and do what any frightened child might do when feeling threatened by anyone or anything: first of all remember who our Abba Father is. Remember Romans 8:32: He who did not spare His own Son, but gave Him up for us all, how will He not with Him also give us all things? He loves us that much. He doesn't change. His love is perfect towards us. Perfect love casts out all fear. Imagine you are the parent and that your child is afraid of something; wouldn't you do everything in your power to protect and comfort that child who comes to you? Yes! How much more our heavenly Father - whose power is unlimited and whose love is perfect - will do this for His children who call on Him.
But He also tells us not to be afraid. We must CHOOSE faith (to believe in His power and His goodness) and not fear. If fear is "False Evidence Appearing Real," then the antidote is to bring to bear the TRUTH on the situation. Faith is the assurance of things hoped for (God's good plan for us) the evidence of things not yet seen (His promises to us). Speak out loud the Truth: For example, "Underneath are the everlasting arms." "His arm is mighty to save." "I will never leave you nor forsake you." Scripture is full of verses that remind us of God's goodness and love and His complete ability to overthrow any forces assigned against us by the enemy. Jesus is the Name above all names. Just call on His Name until His Peace enters your soul. Praise Him for the forces of evil cannot stand to hear the LORD ALMIGHTY be praised and worshiped. Submit yourself to God, resist the devil and he will flee. Greater is He who is in us (the LORD strong and powerful!) than he who is in the world (who is a liar).

Fear not, little flock, it is the Father's good pleasure to give you the Kingdom.

Thank you for sharing your fresh insight on fear, Michael...there would always be 2 prominent scripture passages that would bring my mind into the right focus away from fear whenever it strikes back : Psalms 34:4 and Luke 18:1. Hope that these will also give courage to others to look at fear at its face...with HISTeam that works in His marketplace, BenjieC. / Manila, Philippines

WOW! I thought I was the only one grappling with fear. In the past to overcome fear of trust, I wrote down all the fear scriptures on 3 x 5 cards and carried them around with me. During breaks I'd say them out loud. I posted them on my car visor and bathroom mirror to remind me to confess the word of God. This is how I learned to trust God more. I still struggle with certain fears, like fear of job loss due to sales performance. I really need help defeating this fear because I have been selling for more than 18 years now. I believe what I need to do is find scriptures in the bible that address prosperity and business success. Does anyone know of specific scriptures that deal with selling? Thx!

Hello -- I live near Ottawa Canada, but still the after effect of 9/11 hit us hard. My husband and I had an international language school and one by one parents would call to say they would not let their kids fly... We lost the school, our house and $200,000. From the stress, I also got high blood pressure which the doctors could not control. At one point I was at death's door. In faith, in my spirit, I screamed out to God reminding Him that I had a mission, ministry and a purpose to fulfill and that it wasn't my time to go. I was then bed ridden for 4 months -- I lived in fear of dying for many months -- yet, knowing God's words to me personally would not let me go into the fear. Now, I am always reminded as well, that when the Israelites stepped into the Red Sea and were crossing it to escape the Egyptians, they had to move forward without fear and believe that God would get them safely across. Whenever I have any fear, I stand on that tribulation story.... I am an editor /writer and God now sends me in His work from around the world --I am carrying out my mission...

Having with many clients for most of the last twenty years as a life coach, I have seen that uncontolled fear is the greatest stumbling block to a successful, abundant life. As a Christian, we have in Lord Jesus the greatest attidote to fear, as long as we remember to acknowledge and surrender our fear to Him. He will take all of our burdens (1 Peter 5:7) but it's up to us to pass them over.

In my early career as a Canadian diplomat, I experienced a lot of fear because I was expected to make cold calls on high ranking, government officials and business people. I could have avoided making the calls and my career would have suffered. Instead, and this was before I accepted Jesus, I used to repeat a line from Shakespeare "A faint heart never won a fair lady." And, I was then able to move into action. The more I did this, the more I found I had nothing to fear from all those people I thought would reject me. In fact, quite a few ended up becoming personal friends.

Now, whenever a twinge of fear touches my gut (that's where I feel it) I simply give it to Jesus, and it instantly disappears. As I teach my clients how to do this, their lives substantially improve.

Blind at 30
I lost my sight at 30 years old from complications of diabetes.Duke Hospital had performed numerous lazer surgeries in an attempt to slow down or prevent me from going blind but in January of 1990 I list my sight. Duke hospital had arranged for me to attend a rehab center in Raliegh NC and informed me that they had done all that they could. It was in this situation that I asked Jesus to take control of my life, I yielded to Him and He recieved me with open arms. When Jesus entered my heart there was incredible thankfulness and confidence that the creator of heaven and earth was now piloting my life, not me not satan not chance.. Along with this peace I discerned a voice that said TRUST ME so I acted on that voice canciling appointments with social security, disability and doctors, following a voice that said TRUST ME.Not one person agreed with me in my stand , not the local church, not my family, not even my wife. The voice that I heard said that "I will take care of you, TRUST ME" To this day I have never prayed for God to restore my sight but 3 monthes after TRUSTING HIM my eyesight returned. Since then I have had many occation to share what God can and will do if ONLY WE TRUST HIM. TRUST and FAITH are the counter for fear. II Tim 1:7 For God has not given us the spirit of fear but of power love and a sound mind
BLESS YOU

I know God's Word is true, but I am sometimes really gripped by fear. My tendency is to run and hide to get away from it, but I have learned that if I single out that thing that is coming at me to make me afraid, and RUN at it armed with the absolutely truth of God, that thing turns into nothing right before my eyes. I'm amazed every time. I have sensed God telling me lately to put my foot into the Jordan. The Red Sea just opened up, but the Jordan only did that when they put their foot in. (In other words, go for it.) God told Joshua, "Go forward with confidence and courage and take no thought of failure." I know that's the word for me.
