Open Your Other Eyes

June 11th, 2008 | Michael Q. Pink

“The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what is the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, And what is the exceeding greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his mighty power….” (Eph 1:18, 19)

You have two sets of eyes. Your physical eyes allow you to see the physical world but your spiritual eyes allow you to understand it. Paul calls them “eyes of understanding” and they allow you to “see” the great hope of His calling on your life. That is to say, they allow you to understand the mountain of hope that comes with the great calling He has for you. Think of the hope you would feel if a team from the NBA or NFL came to your high school and said they wanted you to play for them when you graduate. Or perhaps the New York Philharmonic Orchestra or a major book publisher approached you to tap your talent. Imagine the great hope that comes to a young person in a situation like that! The calling God has for each one of us is like that, but even better.

Spiritual eyes allow you to see the hope that your calling brings. But with calling comes the question, “How?” When you see the fullness of what God has called you to, you will definitely wonder how getting that done will be possible. If you don’t have that question, you may still be looking at your own idea for your calling. So Paul prays secondly, that we would see not only the hope of that great calling on our lives but also the provision to bring it to pass. I am speaking of the glorious wealth of inheritance He deposited in us to get the job done. God has deposited His Spirit in you and with that everything you need for life and godliness. He has uniquely gifted you to fulfill a magnificent destiny if you would but have eyes to see not only the destiny but also the inheritance within to get the job done.

Thirdly, Paul knows I suspect, that people will struggle to accept that there is any good thing in them, but he speaks not of the flesh in which dwells no good thing, but of the spirit. So Paul prays a third thing, that your spiritual eyes would see not only the hope of your calling and the inheritance He deposited within you, but also the exceeding greatness of His power toward those who believe. Ahh… there’s the caveat… to those who believe. But when you begin to see with your spiritual eyes as Paul prayed, hope builds, faith comes, power is released and destinies are fulfilled.

I still have more to share about “seeing” with our spiritual eyes, but a good starting point is right here where Paul prayed. Ask the Lord to reveal to you more of the calling He has for you. Many of you feel you know that, but ask God for more details, more imagery, more vision. Spend time with Him on that for it will build hope. Then ask Him to help you see His inheritance within you. What has He put in you? What does that look like? He will reveal it. Then ask Him to reveal afresh to you His exceeding power and let belief spring up in you.

Be blessed this day my friends,

Michael

This comes at a time in my life when I am trying to discover what God has in store for me. These are beautiful words of encouragement. I know the natural gift he has blessed me with and there are skills that I am learning. I know once he combines my skills and natural gifts with the supernatural His glory will shine through…I need to wait listen and be obedient and HIs promises will come to past….thanks for words of encouragment

This inspired article is one of the best answers to both camps in the prosperity issue. It’s all about Christ in us the hope of Glory (goodness), and going about doing good. Ofcourse that includes reaching the lost but also, it must include natural provision and especially through the miracle of multiplication. In all things give Thanks. Thank you Michael.

    Thank you Lord Jesus.

“Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, neither has it entered the heart of man, the things that God has prepared for them that love Him” BUT God has revealed them (those things) unto US by His Spirit: for the Spirit searches all things, yes the deep things of God” I Cor2;9,10

It is vital that we understand that God is NOT hiding things FROM us but FOR us

Blessings to all that seek Him

    Dear Michael and team

It was such a privelege for me when I came in contact with you through a special recommendation from Zig Ziglar. (7 Wealth secrets of the rainforest). What excites me is to listen to someone who is living and doing business from Kingdom principles.

Just to add something in connection with “seeing” is that when Jesus was baptised, and the heavens opened, nowhere in the Bible we read that it closed again. I pray that the Holy Spirit will make us so aware of seeing in the unseen that we start living in the supernatural more than in the natural. What excites me further is that God is a awesome God. He is really speaking to the church with the same voice. We received teachings on this topic for quite a time now at our church. Another add on to seeing the unseen is speaking about your situation, business, personal life what God is saying about it. We are our biggest prophets. What so ever you will ask in MY NAME you will receive. Is what you see and what you speak daily aligned with what God says? I pray that God will manifest His glory through vessels that are available.

Michael, I honor you as an ancommen mentor in my life. I pray that all the blessings God already blessed you with will become manifested in your life. I honor your teachings and pray that God will continue to reveal secrets to you in a powerful way.

    God bless

I think that seeing with your spirital eyes is a Journey. We have to remember too alway’s stand firm, and devote ourselves daily to the Lords work.
God is speaking through his people. Also ask him to open your spititual ears. I feel through our hearing,we will start to see more clearly.
It is not the truth that sets your free,it is the knowledge of the truth that sets you free. WOW! Thank you Jesus.

    God Bless you all,

I think about marriage when I think about opened eyes. How many people want to go into a marriage, or even on a date, with their eyes shut?

God illuminates every aspect of our life, yet some people walk around with their eyes shut and wonder why they bump into things.

As God calls, He equips. He never leaves us empty. Most of what we need He has already instilled within us. We have to choose to allow the Holy Spirit to illuminate God’s plan for our life.

    Great post. Thanks, Michael

Thank you for this insight, Michael. It is in line with what the Lord has been showing me for my life. There is an obvious plan in the works, but only the PLAN is obvious! The walking IN is a little more vague, but I’m just doing what I know He has called me to for the moment as I investigate which path to take…I just pray that I will “hear His voice, and another I will not follow…”
I will heed your advice to spend time with Him about where He is leading me, that the eyes of my understanding will be open, and the path will be clear to the next step of this exciting journey!
    Thanks again.

It is exciting to see God working! I prayed this morning that God send me in the direction he desires for me to go. I also told the lord that, I put my total trust in him for my finincial needs. (When you are on straight commission, and work by appointment it’s hard to just trust at times.) As I started out today my scheduled appointment was canceled,my first thought was what now. Then my phone rang and it was a referral from one of my clients. I then remembered what I had prayed. My spiritual eyes were opened to what God had in store for me today. God is so good!
