Would You Know It If You Saw It?

June 17th, 2009 | Michael Q. Pink

“I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favor to men of skill; but time and chance happens to them all.” Ecc 9:11

OK. So we established in the previous blog that the sons of Issachar were prosperous. This was due to a number of factors, but chief among them was their ability to discern the “eth” of God, the season or time of a thing and then know what to do.

You’ve heard it said that this one or that one was in the right place at the right time. Usually they didn’t even know it. They just happened to be the beneficiary of it. Even being in the right time at the right place requires action or the “eth” of God will pass you by.  A dear friend of mine moved to a State he had always wanted to live. Talk about timing… He was able to rent a dream home on an idyllic waterway for less than the owner was paying for tax or insurance. Apparently the owner just wanted someone living in it.

But the timing gets better. Turns out that the Super Bowl was coming to town about 90 days after he moved there and there was a shortage of luxury accommodations available in that city. He was able to sublet the house he had just rented, for a period of ten days and was paid more than his first year’s rental payments in return! Right time. Right place. Right action!

It was an “eth” of God. He didn’t see it coming, but he sure knew it when he saw it and he knew what to do. He acted like a son of Issachar. Or you might say, he had an Issacharian anointing. I share this story with you and I will be sharing some Scripture examples as well. Here’s why… They train bank tellers to recognize counterfeit money by handling lots and lots of genuine currency. I want you and me to observe many examples of the “eth” of God so we will recognize the real thing when it comes and also be able to discern the counterfeit.

I am a prophetic intercessor and a watchman. I agree with you 100%.
There is a transition, a global one as if God wants to prove to man that righteousness exalts, as if God wants to defend Xtians who believe in the Kingdom principles and pour out a shaking of Joel 2 to raise ’signet’ and the shaking of Ezekiel 37 to raise an army. Look not far like Hagar, the well to quench thirsts in two generations is right next to you.

Good word yemi Issachar! Thanks for sharing!

In your bank teller analogy, would presumption be a type of counterfeit and what are the ways to recognize (discern) the difference?

  4. Gary Geppelt Says:

Which date gives the definition of ‘eth’ of God.

    Dear Micheal….

Everyday I pray that my husband and I would know the time and seasons like the sons of Issachar….how interesting that they are still referred to in the bible by their father’s name…… their timing wasnt good enough to have their names individually spoken of….or perhaps Issachar was a good man and their diligence brings glory to his reputation…… anyway….. thought I would just let you know that I thought that was a marvelous word and I hope youshare more on how we might be wise as serpents and carpe diem!

    Michael,

I believe God reveals his timing to those he knows will will take advantage of it to carry out his purpose. Such people may not even be believers. The Bible teaches that God has foreknowledge to know what we will do with the blessings he gives us. The Bible says God hated Esau before he was even born because he foreknew that Esau would devalue his birthright. Yet, he loved Jacob the deceiver and grasper because he knew Jacob would value God’ s birthright. I have friends who have made millions who do not seem to be believers and admit they are driven by greed. But it if they are wicked men, then their wealth will be laid up for the just. Its a curious and mysterious thing that the wicked are are able to accumulate wealth that is laid up for the just.

Thank you Michael, my husband and I are in the process to move on a mission to Mexico, but we feel in our hearts that we are to start a bussiness, that will be also a blessing for the community and the Church. All we have heard from people around (family included), is that is not a good time. Yet we feel that it is. Your words are wisdom from God to us at this time of decisions. Please continue blessing us.

Michael, I don’t believe in coincidences. Have you read either of Nicholas Nassim Taleb’s books, “Fooled by Randomness” or “The Black Swan”? His perspective seems to be covering the same topic but from a secular angle, but you’re both hitting the same notes. All truth is God’s truth. I’d appreciate hearing your thoughts if so.

  10. Michael Pink Says:

Hi Screwtape… I don’t believe in coincidences either. Not sure if you’ve been following the last several blogs on this topic, but I do make that point for sure. Blessings, Michael

Micheal, I just wanted to say thank you for writing all these. I know it takes a lot of time, but its really blessing me. Thanks.
