To Be Sick or Well… (The Choice is Yours)

October 6th, 2009 | Michael Q. Pink

I want to thank you all for reading, passing on and commenting on my recent blogs concerning healing. Some of you replied to the email directly with a personal note to me, but those are received by my office, simply because I cannot respond to all of them. I did see one from a brother who began by telling me that he loved me and has been blessed by these blogs for 4 years, but that I was completely wrong on this subject.  I am sure there are many who feel that way and that’s okay with me. If we can walk in love toward one another, that’s more important than agreeing on every finer point of our faith.

I will invite all who share his view to consider the possibility, no matter how remote it may seem to you, that perhaps I and many others, who see what I see, have climbed a different section of the mountain than you. Perhaps we have plumbed the depths of His Word in different places than you. That wouldn’t make us smarter or deeper or anything special at all. It’s just that we have explored and experienced something that previously we had not seen, but now we do. Something that previously we argued against or were turned against for whatever reason, but now we have had an “aha” moment and see, as it were, for the very first time, a perspective we may have disdained or at the very least disagreed with only months ago.

If you have been a Christian for any length of time now, you have probably already encountered understandings and revelations that stand in opposition to how you earlier believed. That is why I walk softly toward those who disagree with me. I have found that I continue to grow in my understanding of Him and His Word and things I once thought were cut and dried, were in fact, all wet.

My wife and I pray almost daily that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ would give unto us a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of our understanding being enlightened, that we may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of His glory of His inheritance in the saints and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power, which He worked in Christ Jesus when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His own right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principalities and powers, might and dominion and over every name that is named, not only in this age, but in that which is to come. I would strongly urge all of you to make this a regular prayer from your heart and watch what happens between now and the end of the year!

To those of you who wrote words of encouragement and support, I am most grateful. In fact, beyond words. Some of you have never or perhaps only rarely, posted on this blog but you did this time to simply add the word of your testimony and strengthen mine. Thank you for that! For all of you that care and those of you who are searching, I continue to offer up what limited view I have of the wondrous work of Christ. More to come this week…

    Michael,
I’ve enjoyed reading your blog since joining just a couple of months ago. My perspective is in the finished work of the cross. That “by His stripes we are healed”. Miracles happen immediately. Healing takes time and we keep pressing in. In either case, to God be the glory. Many are awaiting their healing. Jesus already paid the price. Lord Jesus now receive the glory for what you’ve done for us.

  2. LarryTatschke Says:

The truth comes from Jesus Christ who died for our sins, and having someone who reminds us of this fact, is only encouraging for us, and his healing is in beleiving that He died on the Cross for us.
Thank you Michael and all of you, that you are there! Loving and caring !

  3. Carla Benton Says:

Thank you for your boldness in lovingly sharing your journey. It is difficult to share revelation of this type with those in His body that have not seen from the same perspective. (So many emotions involved) I hunger for more knowledge of healing and how we are to cooperate with the Holy Spirit in bringing His kingdom into the earth.
The Cross bought our freedom from all that is under the curse, His stripes bought our healing, His blood bought our righteousness and His peace our wholeness.
Thank you for continuing to be free in sharing all that your trailblazing has brought your way. God is doing a great work in the body of Christ as we agree to encourage and love one another.

  4. Anita Says:

    Michael:
There are 4 podcasts on Andrew Wommack’s website on healing that are the ones that your wife listened to, and they are available to all who want to know. This is the website if any are interested: http://www.awmi.net/extra/audio/1036 I suggest those that do would do so prayerfully and with a child-like faith. God bless you all!

Thank you, Michael, for your boldness and grace in delivering your messages.

  5. Kara Harris Says:

When I see the way the FATHER has changed my heart/mind it is no problem giving the grace to others, even IF we don’t agree. This mirror I see through is NOT clear to me yet, so I will continue to seek what HE might have in store for me. Keep it up Michael, we NEED to challenge our finite minds to the infinite! Blessings, k

  6. Clark McCabe Says:

Brother Mike: I’ve been a subscriber for a few years now and I have been blessed by your insights. It’s unfortunate that so many brothers and sisters are still stuck in “religion” and have not been able to get ahold of the revelation that you are putting forth….I encourage you to continue to get these truths into the blog, we really never know when the “light” will come on and the phrase “now I get it!” will come blasting out…God bless you from your old stomping grounds…Nashville

  7. Alan Heavey Says:

    Hi Michael

I just want to encourage you my brother. I am an evangelist and know what it is like to be standing many times in an isolated position because of misunderstanding, doctrinal differences or purely scriptural interpretation. However one thing is so clear to me; we cannot base our belief and faith on our own experience; only on the Word of God.

So bless you as we continue to serve and worship the Jesus that saves, heals and delivers.

    Alan

  8. Michele Tokiwa Says:

    Hi Michael,

Thank you for you encourage words and insight. I am walking in my healing daily and I am right beside you on the mountain. Isn’t the Lord wonderful! Not only as God raised you up for the biblically based businesses. He has so much more in store you and your family. He has raised you up “For such a time as this” Esther 4:14

I will be praying for you and your family

    Michele

  9. Richard Says:

Well either the word of God is true or it in not. Being raised in a denomination that did not believe in salvation that I had to got of to find God. He was there but just bliended by the enemy. Ask Him to remove the scales and let Him do the work. I do not argue with anyone just love them and let God change them I can not. Seek first the Kingdom of God and ALL will be yours.
    A Brother In Him
    Richard

  10. Jeff Barrow Says:

The crux of this lies in Michael’s expression concerning a change of heart from an “aha moment”, otherwise known as “revelation”, the other side of “the Word of God”. Traditional “doctrine” and “dogma” very often limit the horizon by including in their structure a fear of, if not prohibition against, looking or hearing anything outside their established structures.

I echo Michael’s very well, and graciously put, expression about updates to our knowledge and understanding. Our Creator, in whose image we are, is infinite. We have all only begun to scratch the proverbial surface of any sort of personal revelation of Him. Unfortunately, much of the past 500 years of institutionalizing the “church” has left us with a myopia that has become difficult to break beyond.

God bless those like Michael Pink who have been to the Heavenly “eye doctor” and have new “eyes to see”. This allows a consistantly improving line of sight… destined for infinitely more “aha moments”. Selah.

  11. Michael B. Says:

I asked yesterday: Is instantaneous miraculous healing supposed to be the norm in a believers life?

Dave Johnson said “Miracles happen immediately. Healing takes time and we keep pressing in.” I believe this to be the case but can’t quote chapter and verse.

I had a chainsaw and tree branch accident recently where the branch won and I was cut and scratched up. Over a period of several weeks the cuts and scratches have completely healed with little visible evidence of what happened. My wife prayed for my healing and it happened. It wasn’t instantaneous.

At the age of 24 (just a couple of years after being radically born again), I developed juvenile diabetes and my pancreas quit producing insulin. That is a fact. But the Truth says I was healed! I have believed for 26 years for a new or healed pancreas. Since that hasn’t been manifested in the natural yet, does scripture imply I am in unbelieve?

  12. Michele Tokiwa Says:

You were healed 2000 years ago, continue to stand on that word and confess your healing with your healing with you mouth. Have faith that your complete healing will manifest. Some healing take longer than others, why I don’t have the answer… but I do know this Jesus already did it. I am living proof, I should have been dead 2 years ago.Cancer was found through out my body. I give God all the Glory.

    Psalms 103:2-4 Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;
    Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;

Proverbs 4:20-22 My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.

    Reread the entire chapter Eph-6

Ephesians 6:13 and having done all, to stand.

  13. Dave Johnson Says:

    Michael B,
There is power in the prayer of agreement as stated in Matthew 18: 18-20. I stand in agreement with you for your total and complete healing of juvenile diabetes in Jesus’ name. In the spirit I lay my hands on you Michael and say….In the name of Jesus be healed! Lord, let Michael walk in divine health and give him a testimony that will bring you the honor and glory which you deserve. I ask this in your precious name Lord Jesus. Amen

  14. Barry Watkins Says:

I don’t believe all failures to recieve healing is because of unbelief. Forgiveness and healing always goes together in the Bible. Many people have only been healed after forgiving someone. Also if we have a guilty conscience, it can affect our health. (Act 24:16) And herein do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void of offence toward God, and toward men.
Sin in our life can also keep us from receiving. I wonder about Christians that rob God in tithes and offerings? Mal 3:8 Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.
Mal 3:9 Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation.
Could that curse also be sickness? Maybe people should change their behaviour so they can be healed instead of changing the Word of God.

  15. Bil Says:

Michael, I am appreciative of the humility you have displayed, that further indicates your level of spiritual growth. While I disagreed with you slightely I do agree with this post that we all are somewhere on the road of discovery and all at different levels. That’s why they call it maturity and you have displayed a great deal of it. Thank you in Jesus Christ!

  16. Michael B. Says:

Michele and Dave, thank you for your prayers.

Barry, If Jesus has redeemed us from the curse of the law, why would God curse us?

  17. Susan Says:

We need to seek the Lord to find out what the root cause of an illness is. I did that with someone and got quite a surprise to find that that they were abused by two people who were supposed to be helping them rather than harming them. Even their doctor agreed that dealing with this should bring a dramatic improvement in their health.

Deuteronomy 28 with its list of blessings and curses also gives clues as to why things go wrong in people’s lives, including health problems. Derek Prince wrote a book and taught a lot on this subject. Before I found out about these stories the Holy Spirit tried to use his teaching to show me the root cause but I struggled to believe what I was told.

Sadly they chose not to deal with the issue and have never recovered. They now say that there is nothing wrong with them it is just those around them that see the things they do as a problem when there is really nothing wrong.

I cannot think of a word to describe this situation as sad is just not strong enough.

  18. Elizabeth Says:

I agree with every word you wrote today. Thanks for the prayer that came from the WORD of GOD. I believe in Jesus as my Healer, Saviour, Deliverer and Provider. Jesus suffered an horrendous beating and death so we can be healed, delivered, saved and prosper. “I came to give you LIFE and that more abundantly.” AMEN

  19. Barry Watkins Says:

I don’t believe it is God that brings the curse, but we cut ourselves off from the blessing and open the door to satin by disobedience.

Mal 3:10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.
Mal 3:11 And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts.

(Gal 6:7) Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

  20. Lorraine Miniati Says:

I am hearing what you are saying. Thank you. I also have witnessed some miraculous healings. I was talking to someone yesterday and they said well I am praying for my father and he is not getting healed of demensia. I said that we declare the Word over the person, we believe the Word as it stands on healing for that person. If healing does not occur according to our mind on how the circumstances should change with that person or he gets worse in the circumstances we still cannot judge His Word my the circumstances. If we believe the ultimate truth about what He says in His Word we have to leave it at that and that is all we can do. Judging His Word by the circumstances only means we have taken our own reason of the circumstances and replaced them with God’s Word. Our reason outways God’s Word and then we don’t believe that His Word is Truth and that it does not come back void. We are taking our reason to be higher than God’s Word. Yuck. We cannot explain the circumstances so declare the Word and leave the circumstances to God and His Sovereignty and let go of the prayer.

  21. Tom Mull Says:

    Michael,
I have enjoyed your insights in ministry and the business of ministry. I enjoyed several conference calls and reading Rainforest Strategy. I am also benefitting from David Johnson’s seminars on social network marketing. I am also in complete agreement with your perspective on healing. I have personally been healed from Prostate Cancer with the guidance of seed implants although I had prayed and had prayer for healing directly from God. I am just as confident that God was directly involved with my healing through the care of a Christian doctor with the prayers of others.
I have also experienced healing with no medical involvement. My son, Richard, has a ministry, Operation Light Force, that experiences miraculous healings on a regular basis. His own son was dead for 40 minutes and had a miraculous recovery with no brain damage. In Africa I have seen God do amazing healings where the people have no other hope but God.
I do not understand why God chooses to respond with healing or not with every situation. We do not dictate God’s actions, but we can definitely restrict Him by our lack of faith, sin, or open doors that allow the enemy access to our lives. He is God and there is much I do not understand, but I know He always desires our best and is able to do exceedingly abundantly beyond what we can even imagine.
Keep up the good work of advancing His Kingdom!
    Blessings,
    Tom Mull

  22. Carol Milhous Says:

I see it in the distance….haven’t apprehended it yet, but oh, how I want to!!

  23. David Carter Says:

I read this blog regularly and have watched your journey. It has be rather logical and systematic. I am not surprised to see how the relationship to God grows. We often “grow through” before we learn the lessons. Yet, most of the lessons can be considered basic. The simple beliefs of a genuine Christian walk are the strong beliefs that add the structure to our faith life. There are many implications to what I see in your life. A journey through leads us into a stronger relationship that take us our of a life with weak faith into one with stronger faith.

  24. Hannah Smiley Says:

Thank you so much for the wonderful example of how to handle a difference of opinion. So many times this is done in the exact opposite way and is very destructive. Shalom, Hannah

  25. Timothy Says:

Mack “So when he healed the blind?”
Papa “He did so as a dependent, limited human being trusting in my life and power to be at work within him and through him. Jesus, as a human being, had no power within himself to heal any…one. ….. Only as he rested in his relationship with me , and in our communion - our co-union - could he express my heart and will into any given circumstance.” From the Shack… Page 100 Our life needs to reflect Jesus from the mundane to the supernatural…I believe the Jesus is the same, yesterday, today and forever. Just because some of our brethern have not experienced with their five senses, i.e. (Biblical culture and time was to know Him). I pray for all who have not had the new wine poured into them that they will seek Him and Find Him, when they search for Him with all their heart.. That Jesus was totally dependant on the Father and the Spirit, can we live any different?

  26. Jeff Barrow Says:

So, Timothy, and others who subscribe to the “He is everything and I am nothing” aspect of traditional evangelism… I’m wondering - when God created Adam (mankind), was the “human” side of the equation a mistake, or a glitch, or, like a tin can, a container He intended to one day toss aside? If He said the whole of His man creation was GOOD, then why do we minimize it now with our doctrines?

I wonder if Jesus learned how to allow His merged spirit and humanity (soul and Body) - after all we’re found of declaring “He was God and man at the same time” - to use the human side to allow Heavenly substance into the earth.

That was, after all, Adam’s assignment and commission to begin with. And, whatever Adam gave away, “lost”, Jesus restored… all of it. So, Adam must have been man and God at the same time.

As Born Again persons we have one foot in Heaven (”seated with Him in the Heavenlies”) and one foot in the earth. But, God never condemned His creation because of sin. Rather, He judged the condition it was in, then Jesus redeemed it.

There is no lack, disease, poverty, death, illness, etc. in Heaven. So, it’s our responsibility, as Sons, to usher that condition back into the earth. Therefore, healing and “wholeness” should just be a “natural” condition for those in the Family of God. And, it is our commission to spread it into all the earth, especially to non-believers, so they can get a glimpse of Heaven now and desire it.

If we devalue the body as second rate we will probably not be able to believe it should be whole. Belief is the key, and the foundational truth that accepts what Father does about us is necessary to believe in the fullness of Heaven NOW… which is really the goal. Selah.

  27. Timothy Says:

    Jeff,
thanks for that word…I am interested in helping those who cannot get past their flaby teachings to know this… We are to be filled with the Holy Spirit, we are new creations In Christ, dead to Sin, who Jesus left here to reach all Nations with His Commands, so that the Kingdoms of this World will become the Kingdoms of Our Lord and Christ. I pray that all people can be delivered from the enemy’s lies, and have a AHA, experience with Jesus. We are His Workmanship, Sons and Daughters of the King, with a mission to influence our mountains with all of the Power and Authority Given to Us by Christ our Lord and King…

    Hi Michael
Thank you for your recent postings with regards to healing. I am a firm believer in your current understanding of healing and have been very blessed by your postings on this and the progress of healing of your wife.
It would be really great if she could have a website/blog for those of us who wish to follow her on this journey of her healing and experience the healing ourselves as we grow in our knowledge in this area.
    The Lord bless you both.

  29. Susan Says:

One of my recent aha moments was that we operate in time which is a dimension that spiritual beings do not operate in. It took a chapter of a book to explain it so I can do little other than tease you with this statement. I think this idea has something to do with the fact that we have both bodies and spirits but I am still thinking that one through. However, before I found this out I had to understand the idea that God created time when he created the earth and that before and after the earth there was no time only eternity. An example of the line by line precept by precept approach to learning from scripture. Of course we are all at different levels and understandings. Those who learn and expand their knowledge of scriptural ideas are those who are prepared to move on and consider new ideas. Sadly some just say sorry I do not agree therefore you are wrong and stay stuck in their way of thinking. Others say I am not sure about that at the moment but I will not dismiss it.

The person who also wrote that book with the chapter on time has built a church that has found ways of reaching into the world and bringing about the kingdom of God in every sphere of life. One of the strands of their work is helping people become wealthy enough to give to the many social action projects that they run. I say many as there are hundreds if not thousands of them. One of the obvious ways of doing this is to help people produce goods and services that they can sell. The aim was for everyone to work together as a body. Those capable of bringing money into the kingdom via business activities to do so which then provided the finances for those who were capable of serving others if only they had the money. We cannot work as a body unless we are healthy ourselves and have healthy relationships with others.

The concepts of belief and unbelief or blessings and curses are to me are an important a concept of the universe as gravity is. Gravity has an influence on how that thing we dropped as a baby before he had heard of gravity as much as it did after we had been told about it. Same with belief/unbelief and blessings/curses as they can affect our lives before we know about them. Unlike gravity we can do something about them once we know about them. Derek Prince’s book was called Blessing or Curse you can choose.

I suspect gravity is one of those concepts that we can understand on a basic level but as our knowledge of science increases so our level of understanding increases. The same with belief/unbelief and blessings/curses. One of the good things about this blog is that we have the opportunity to look at things from the perspectives of others and reconsider our own ideas in the light of theirs.

    Susan

  30. Sheila Kmoch Says:

Thank you so much for the transparency and vulnerability. At one time, I, too, was very dogmatic about knowledge of the truth, as I saw it. Now I know that the most important thing is relationship. Knowing Him, as He speaks to me personally.

As you say, perhaps He is taking us up another part of the mountian. That is His privilege!

Also, would we be so arrogant as to suppose that any one of us could contain all the truth of God? He is best displayed in His whole body - each one faithfully manifesting His reality in themselves, while recognizing Him in a different aspect in others. Now we see through a glass darkly - each having a unique piece of the puzzle of God - and all coming into His likeness. It’s only as we dare to be transparent with the journey He brings us on, that we truly display Him to one another.

The religious leaders of His day totally missed Him because He did not look like what they thought God would look like. I don’t want to be guilty of the same thing. I don’t want to miss Him because of my own ideas of how He should look. Relationship, intimacy with Him is what He is after. We don’t make it because we’re right, but because we are His. Perhaps some of us are eating of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil rather than the Tree of Life!

Perhaps we have made a god of knowledge, rather than knowing intimately God Himself.

Be encouraged over everyway that God will use your openness. THanks for being public with it. We all need one another in this journey.

  31. Bret Abner Says:

    Michael,

I appreciate your thoughts & revelations that God continues to give you!! It truely is amazing how topics of healing and others, at how so many people will not take God at his word. They want to put their own spin on God’s word. It is unchangable, undeniable, and unstoppable for those who choose to believe it.

Keep speaking the truth, and addressing topics that you will never hear on TV or at church. God Bless You & your wife!!

  32. Janice Murray Says:

    Hello Michael,

This is encouraging to me that you are the second person to encourage me with avid assurance that if I make the prayer that Paul prayed over the church at Ephesus a daily priority that God would surely move on my behalf. Thank you and May the Lord Bless you and keep you.

  33. Yvonne C. Hyde Says:
